It has been a long time since my last post. Since then a lot has happened across the globe in various fields. Hence I had penned down a poem based on the consequences and hypocrisy of human pride. So here it goes…
Scars of Pride
Bustling cities,
Have now been halted.
Sounds of movement,
Have all been throttled.
Coping with the new normal,
Has made our lives a blank novel.
Humanity has been cautioned,
But they have paid no heed.
In search of power,
We delve in powerlessness.
In search of a mountain,
Holes have been excavated.
In search of peace,
Armories have been unlocked.
We are masters of all,
But we seem to be servants of pride.
These times teach us,
That our marvels can lie in shambles.
We have let fear and pride control us,
Failing to understand its emptiness.
Deafening sounds of weapons in use,
End with deserted houses and empty chairs.
The inventions we cried out for,
Muffle our new cry for help.
We have conquered civilizations,
But fail to conquer our minds.
Our world has become an unsent message,
As we bow down as prey to uncertainty.
Perhaps the biggest uncertainty,
Is our judgement and actions.
Perhaps it’s our hunger,
To destroy ourselves.
History should not be repeated,
But history is being overwritten.
Peace has been attained,
And then destroyed the next day.
Only for it to repeat again,
Like a routine morning birdsong.
This cycle had a beginning,
But will it ever have an end?
