Its been a scare long since I posted a short story on my blog and one day when I was pondering about it, I thought to myself why not write something now. After all there is no time like the present. So I worked on this prose during my free time and I got off to a wonderful start with the prompt that I was being followed on my way to school.
But soon, on came schoolwork and exams and that let to a huge load of things to do all of a sudden. That surely put me off the track writing for my blog. I could not wait to finish this prose quick in order to make up for the lost time. And after some minutes of brainstorming I was finally able to find some time to polish the writing a little more and here it is. Hope you like it.

The Tale of My Scare on My Way to School
I could not shake off the scare of the feeling that I was being followed. But every single time, I looked behind all I saw was the usual hullabaloo of cars and people on their way to work. For once, my school bag was quite light though I think the reason for that is that we have a half day today.
But yet my instincts told me that someone or something was tailing me. And there have been multiple instances when my instincts were right. Yet I still could not see anything out of the ordinary and that made me spine tingle. I immediately took a right turn down the curb and steams from the subway greeted me as a grocery store came into view.
Fear soared within me as I felt helpless. I was deviating from my usual route to school and further complimented my anxiety and soon I lost my sense of navigation. This was a huge city and I believed I knew how to get around like the back of my hand but now I had no idea where I was. It was like I had stumbled into a completely new continent.
Then something behind me, possibly the one who was trailing me made a weird noise. That got me started up and I feared to look around and I scurried straight ahead in fear. The only thought in my mind at that time was to mix into the crowd. I knew I was in hot pursuit as I heard footsteps gaining on me but for some reason, they were quite light more like that of an animal. But the thought of made me shiver as I thought of werewolves following me.
But my rational thinking kicked in as I realized having a werewolf follow you in a busy metropolitan was quite unlikely. I was tearing down the street in fear and I was puffing hard, out of breath. That was when I had enough with this whole ordeal as I stopped and turned around. But now all I saw was a poor little mongrel.
And that was when he tried to nip off my lunch box. I was
more of an animal person than a people’s person and that made me quite empathetic towards the dog who was possibly a stray. He was famished and I gave him one of my mom’s special chicken sandwiches as he wolfed it down in a minute. Then I was forced to introspect about my situation: A school kid lost in a bustling city and was scared by a mere stray famished dog. I was quite ashamed of myself but then I had greter problems like I did not know where i was.
That was when for once I looked around, this time calmly as I scanned my surroundings. At last I regained my self-esteem as I located where I was. I had gone in a circle and was quite close to my home. Well I guess everything is distorted if you are frightened. But now all this had created more trouble and that came in the form of a grueling walk to school and maybe a telling off for being late to school.
