Alex Rider- Fourteen yet Formidable

The Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz was recommended by my classmates, but the problem was that our library had only one copy of the first book- Stormbreaker which always seemed to be outside the school library than it was in the library. One fine lucky day, when I was returning another wonderful book by Roald Dahl- Ratburger. I was peering on the shelf for books to borrow when I glanced at a shelf having the singular copy of the Stormbreaker.

I grabbed it elated to finally rest my hands on it. The same night, I started of with the book and was able to complete it the next day in school. It is was an excellent read to start the Alex Rider series. Hence this is a book review on the first book of the Alex Rider series.

Being called up by MI6 may be fun but not so secure for the agile fourteen-year-old Alex Rider. The disturbing demise of his uncle and the strange reason presented by law enforcement that was responsible for his death was not easily digested by him. It seems like a walk in the park to check his uncle’s damaged vehicle from a dumpyard until a near death situation.

But little does he know that that is the first of the many more such incidents in the book. His skills impress Alan Blunt who hires him for the MI6 mission of project: Stormbreaker.

Read the book to know about the reason behind his uncle’s demise, why MI6 chose a 14-year old for a mission, about the stormbreakers and much more. Are spine shivering contract killers like Yassen Gregorovich and wealthy mad men like Herod Sayle the mastermind behind the Stormbreaker too much for Alex? Can Alex Rider save Britain? That is a question whose answer lies in the book.

I enjoyed the book. It is a juicy short 3hr read that is simply marvelous. It is detailed yet concise. I would recommend it for children over 10.
