The Room of Doom.
The Room of Doom. Moving furniture for my parents was not the way I wanted to spend time after a hectic day of school. I would rather prefer playing on my console. But my retorts fell on deaf ears and that is why I am lugging the luggage from our car into our new bungalow. I must say, I need some time to get used to it after the apartment we lived in earlier which must have been decades old.
I wanted to explore the residence, so I completed my chore with swiftness as I scoured the boot of the car for little bags to carry inside to shelter. Alas! I found none. As I lay on my comfy couch carefree from algebra, mensuration and what not from school. I was finally feeling like a teen enjoying life and not a little toddler. My inquisitiveness rose as a particular door caught my gaze. As I took casual steps towards the door expecting a gaming room, or a simple prayer room. Instead, I found a dark room similar to a basement.
I took a brave step in to find cobwebs which made me feel frightened, but I remembered I was a strong teen and not a scaredy cat. I scoured for a light switch but all I found was the paint falling of the wall. As, I moved towards what I thought was the centre of the room, I found a string. I pulled at it expecting it to on a light or so, but it did not seem to work. I tugged at it harder once again and bam! Out of the dim light, I was able to spot an iron box looking object headed towards me as I ducked down in time.
Unaware of the dangers in the room, I headed back towards the living room as I found an emergency light that was only for emergencies. But I considered this as an emergency. An emergency where there were flying iron boxes. Are they trying to iron my head? As I headed back, I flicked the switch of the torch on as it illuminated a rather dusty room with a lot of traps such as hidden pins(ouch!), lucky I did not go through there.
What intrigued me was a can of inflammable gas which made me remember this stuff from the Home Alone movies. Just then I read a sign in the corner stating- “Beware, Trespasser protection room”. That must be why this place or as I call it the Room of Doom is full of traps. At least now I knew where to go when there was a burglar.
