The Preposterous Monsoon
Pitter, Patter. Pitter, Patter. Oh, Hark at the rains. Does it think I am a pluviophile?? If yes, I am not. The long and dark days of monsoon are here. Waiting for us to come on vacation from the hot summer days of Qatar. I really do not know why you are called The Monsoon season. Instead, you should be called the vacation ceasing season. When the sun comes out, I come out for a short game of cricket and before you can say “Cricket is fun”. Pitter, Patter, it starts raining.
When we put our clothes outside so that it can dry, it starts raining horses and donkeys. If I get a chance to speak to the clouds, I will give them a piece of my mind and tell them how I hate them. That is the right way to describe it.
Well, the only thing that I love about rains is the pleasant smell often accompanied by rain which is called petrichor. But I sure love to savour the scrumptious monsoon delicacies like aromatic and fantabulous patholi, appetizing pathrade, juicy jackfruits and not forgetting the sweet and mouthwatering mangoes.
Oh, how I love them. Just thinking of them, my mouth is watering. Sometimes you must also see the bright side of things. Though I don’t like rains, I am a nature lover and I love to see the dirt on the ground getting washed away, cooling of the heated earth after the long hot summer. Well, I don’t think rains are that bad after all. But, oh how I wished it would not rain so often so that I could play outdoor all day long.
