My Spine Chilling Horrendous Math-filled Day

A Math-filled Day

Math is a very broad topic. Students might find it enjoyable or a bit complicated. I find Math interesting so here’s a story that contradicts the statements of few but nevertheless, quite entertaining.

I was in the 97th heaven. It was the best day of the year-summer vacation had once and truly begun. I was having the whale of my life without the usual math sums that filled my worrying mind. And I could only look forward for more days to come. The exultation was immense. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I stepped forward into the living room as I opened the creaking door. There were none at my home, so I felt like watching TV until the elephants came home.

But something sent a chill down my spine and no it was not the long monotonous math lessons at school. Instead it was what was lying in front of me. The clock! The second hand of the clock ticked away. TIC-TOK-TIC-TOC. Dread engulfed me. All my bad memories came alive, every single time I forgot my homework, every sort of anguishing reminiscence appeared before me. I was numb and could not move. My brain was not braining. The horrendous ticking of the clock continued as I felt it suck away all my feelings like a dementor.

I felt like I could never be happy again. I was shaking my foot, and my blood went cold with this agonizing experience. All my joy melted away as fast as glaciers would melt in the Sahara Desert. But wait, you might think I am Chronophobic.

But hark! It’s not the fear of clocks but what it displayed. Even though I was exhausted I could tell what was on it. It was not the usual math numbers but it was integers instead. I felt crazy and helpless. Daftly, I ran out into the supermarket downstairs just to see it closed.

Since the building was Georgian and had ivy creepers all over, I thought the owners must have wanted to move. However, along with it I saw something in a coded form of decimals. Hold my horses, I must be having a dreadful day. To my embarrassment a few zesty 10-year-olds came along. To see me in this state is not what I lived up to. So, I stood tall until they scampered to me saying,

“Could you please answer our survey. It is our homework.” one blond boy spoke up.
“Sure. Go ahead, I replied, trying to sound as grownup as possible.
“Would you rather develop an innovative app that uses decimals for financial management or an innovative game that uses integers for strategic planning?” they asked.

“Obviously, the game. It is a much better learning experience.”,I replied being a loyal player of Aracademics which enhances math learning experience than what we have in our classes.
“Thank You” they bluntly said and went on to ask the same thing to another person.
“I wonder what type of project it is.”, I muttered to myself. It surely doesn’t seem like a math or a science one.

Then, I returned home to see my parents back from work. I thought of my day at school and instead of killing time I planned to complete my project to design an innovative theme park ride that incorporates integers and decimals in it. I moved into my creative corner and began reminiscing and brainstorming until I got the perfect idea.

What about Decimal drop where people must prepare for a dizzying drop into the Decimal Tunnel, where the track becomes a spiraling descent that precisely slows at key decimal points (like 1.5, 2.75, 3.125). And what about Positive Peaks and Negative Valleys which consists of a rollercoaster whose track ascends to towering positive peaks (representing positive integers like +10, +20) and plunges into deep negative valleys (representing negative integers like -10, -20).

I was sure I was getting an A+++ for this, considering how lenient our teacher is. And after all, my ideas never disappoint me.
