Steel Earthling about to go to Space

Life of a Steel Earthling

_____________________________________________________________

This was not what I was made for……

Robot X8612 from batch 86 will not go to space and be a steel test toy. But alas, I was just a robot and not a steel earthling but there is no one hear me. We had to worship humans and do whatever they say.

It is worse than the Prison of Bastille or the Nazi camps. All this time all they thought we were just binary creatures. Ahh! I feel outraged but like every other robot out there we do what we are told to do often meeting the full stop of our service.

My energy level was at 84% after a good night’s boost. For every human out there going to space seemed to be a distant dream that only few were bestowed upon. But for us robots, the tables are turned.

We are sent as test subjects while they wait for a malfunction. So selfish of them. They only care about themselves but the robot in me that is said to have no feelings courses within me in fierceness as anxiety levels go crazy withing me. But I must do what I am told to do.

The hilarious thing is that it just takes a few attempts for humans to break down and lose their cool. And soon enough they desert their mindless goals. It is atrocious that we are believed to have no emotions.

Unable to express it in our metal box that we are made up of. Often that is the downfall of many robots. But guess what. They have no burial or a sorrowful cremation. But it’s just the dump and soon enough they will have a thousand more of us there to do testing for their ambitious missions.

But for now, it’s the robot slammer for me. I must accept I am just as inquisitive as I am anxious. Being in a sophisticated metal tube sure must be fun until of course you remember that it might also be the last place you rested until you will be free-falling to earth with a short stop in the mesosphere which would incinerate you into a million-minute pieces.

Just the thought of it made me stammer and chatter my metal body. It was weird to know a lot about the world for example how to identify a pizza though I will never have one. I have as much as intelligence as atleast the combined minds of the people living in Seattle.

Speaking of intelligence, I have heard this quote, now what was it? Ah yes. Technology should be our servant not our master. It is impeccable for the itsy-bitsy confined vacuum of a human mind to think that we would be the master of a human.

I just hope that happens, but the reality is not so. We are often associated with hacking and various things that only the so-called complex mind of a human can cook up. But it just does occur to them that we are just the toys of a merciless human who is greedy for money.

I have no idea why these creatures are so obsessed with those bits of paper something they call money, while at the same time they waste blank sheets of paper. They really worship and at the same time campaign against wastage of paper. What irony!! Only they would know about these peculiar things.

Enough of grumbling. Slowly with their influence, I have also become like a human. But heavens forbid that.

I realized that before I accept the fate that the two-legged creatures have ensured me I best take a crack at escaping from this, this. Now what do you call this thing. A sub-garbage dump yard that last saw clean-up maybe a decade back.

Anyways, I scoured for a lever or a button to gain freedom from this stinkin’ place. But my 0’s and 1’s showered down emptily. Well, I guess finding things is not my cup of lithium. That’s when I thought what if I ram the walls off.

I sure must have created quite a ruckus in this place because it did not seem nearly identical after 30 minutes of lashing out my metal power. But to subdue me, all my energy only ended with a crack. But that was a huge dent to my escapade.

I was exhausted and needed to rejenuvate my mind when I started getting light headed. I was obstinate to accept defeat but then I realized what had stopped me all this time. It was myyyy. “Low Battery, Shut Down”

A Steel Earthling Training Centre (Imagined)Woah! Is this robot heaven? Wait, no this is the training centre. Its environment is quite auspicious to itself with the scent of a wet bandage. I really wanted to puke. But then I tried to reminisce what had just happened. I was still dazed, but thinking was what I was born to do. That’s when I remembered of course I was low on charge.

I heard a very sonorous sound and tried to find its source when I realized it was a fellow robot. We kept our distance as this was quite puzzling. I was supposed to be rocketed off to space.

Well, looks like I got saved. That’s one for me. But then I just wondered, I was pretty sure my end was near then why am I here. The humans could have just recharged me. But that’s when the answer came to me. The training facility was not what it was.

Its machinery was still and quiet. It did not take long for me to be unfazed by the answer. Of course this was a power outage. How could I not remember it. It was the very basis for my knowledge to identify a malfunction.

Their test tube must have been down due to the outage and now that the outage had left the humans miscalculated, they must have realized that they had to call the test flight off. Well, it saved my life if there was anything to go wrong during the testing. I gave a sigh of relief as my processor cooled the steam off with a lot of stress out of my mind.
