‘Schooled’ by Gordon Korman
I could not wait to read another one of Gordon Korman’s new book: Schooled. Starting off with Restart made just love the author’s works and I was glad to have got my hands on this copy. However, I am disappointed to say that this book did not meet my expectations.
Schooled, is a book on Capricorn Anderson or Cap for short who is forced to move into the outer world for a week. Originally from a hippie community called Garland, he knows what a pizza is but has never seen it at all. But all is about to change even the unique system of education that receives from his grandma Rain until she meets with an accident that soon exposes Cap to the outer world.
Getting elected to be the eighth president might not sound so good in Claverage Middle School or C Average Middle School especially since it is a one way ticket to embarrassment. But Cap takes it cool no matter the setbacks, but just as settles in to the bustling life of the city his joy is cut short. Read the book to know more.
Being a Korman book, I was not surprised that this was a hilarious plot mostly set in school. But when compared to the thrill of Restart another of Gordon Korman’s work, I just did not feel the same intrigue in this book. I feel this book seemed to be written in a hurry, meaning a well plotted yet vague latter parts of the book.
Hence, I would rate this book a 3 on 5. Yet I feel this book might appeal to different sorts of people in a different way.
